Bitcoinacy

Bitcoin literacy, or Bitcoinacy, gives the same edge literacy gave after the printing press. A person who understands Bitcoin becomes a clean channel for signal, allocates their own energy well, and can read in the open ledger exactly where everyone else is placing value.

The one-minute version

What it argues against

Functional Bitcoin illiteracy, and fiat success that can't be separated from theft and coercion.

If it seems too good to be true, it's probably too good to be true.02:20
That is the sole thing on the scoreboard, that's the only thing on the scoreboard: do I have access to more sats this year or less sats?20:38

Every passage, on the record.

  1. 01:13Claim

The link between the benefits of literacy and what happened after the printing press, how it exploded and how those networks built up, and how the information that was now easier to produce and set free was able to generate more information based on how literacy spread, and what that looks like in today's environment of Bitcoin.

  2. 01:47Claim

There is a large number of individuals who don't have access, or who do have access to the information, and they just don't realize that they are every day making a poor decision as to how to allocate their energy so as to be in the best position in the future.

  3. 02:20Quote

If it seems too good to be true, it's probably too good to be true.

  4. 02:20Claim

The further you go down the rabbit hole and the more obvious these things appear to look, that should be the first sign of a red flag. But once you peel back the layers of Bitcoin, all of the things that I have been told are going to be roadblocks actually don't exist. They aren't there. They are overcome by the system.

  5. 02:53Claim

It's a time preference of how are you going to spend the energy that you have access to, and how are you going to produce or transform more if you would like to up the amount of energy you consume. It's a fairly easy equation for how to do that.

  6. 03:28Idea

What is Bitcoin but, in a world flooded with information, acting as a filter that will tell the extended order and future generations not only what was most important at the time, by allowing you to see where the most Bitcoin was flowing, but also in the present day, because of its ability to be a bearer instrument and to settle in real time.

  7. 04:06Claim

The visibility of Bitcoin means we're going to get signal where it wasn't possible before. There wasn't even noise, there was nothingness, because the opportunity didn't exist, there wasn't a tool able to measure or take advantage of the savings that could be had in energy transformation.

  8. 04:06Analogy

If you were to project out a hundred years and look back at the flows just by looking on chain, you could figure out exactly where people were placing the most value, because all you have to do is follow the money. It's an open and transparent system where you can't hide.

  9. 05:36Analogy

If you are the only person that can read in a village of a hundred people, that gives you immense power to protect yourself and position yourself in any dealing with the world. You're the funnel between the signal happening in the outside world and the noise you create yourself inside, almost like the Amish: a little civilization that is separate, but you are the only link through literacy that lets it communicate with the outside world.

  10. 07:06Claim

Energy is the soul, the measuring stick by which the extended order is judged. Do we have access to more energy? The fight is order versus disorder, and order is just energy that we have condensed down into the most powerful little packet you can get.

  11. 07:06Idea

Bitcoin is constrained by the physical world, that's the whole point, that's why it actually works, because it's not just logic. But you can do it in a non-material way, which means you can hold information in a non-material way and send it back and forth, and that will be linked to value, to utility, in the real world.

  12. 08:37Idea · condensed

The way that we're going to look at Bitcoin is just by looking at literacy, understanding incoming information and then linking that information with probabilistic outcomes. Bitcoinacy is how many people understand Bitcoin, and it's very, very small, less than one percent of one percent.

  13. 08:37Claim

The thesis only plays out if the people that are that one percent of the one percent find themselves in positions of holding enormous amounts of energy and control over enormous swaths of energy that they do good with. Bitcoiners, that one percent of the one percent, are most likely to do good with that energy, because you have to understand the negative ramifications of poor decision making to get there.

  14. 10:07Claim

My guess is not that many, maybe let's say a million people, that is a cohort of the extended order that is going to be very powerful, and you would want those individuals to have done the study necessary.

  15. 11:37Claim

If you can read, you can live and learn through someone else's experiences, and you can build on top of information that others have generated. You can stand on the shoulders of giants without ever having talked to these individuals, without being in the same space or time, and you can live a thousand lives through those repetitions.

  16. 11:37Analogy · condensed

If you think in terms of a video game, if you try to complete a level a hundred times you're significantly better on the hundredth time at anticipating the known and unknown issues. You can get that same benefit just by reading about other people making the same decisions you are, because we all have the same issues, and it's better to learn from people who dealt with them better than not to learn at all.

  17. 13:07Claim · condensed

It's more efficient to read something that already works than to spend your time trying all the various ways before landing on something that works. It allows you to innovate rather than create an inferior version of a product that already exists, where product means the physical embodiment of order, anything that is the crystallization of your imagination in the world.

  18. 13:07Claim

All you have to do to understand what's working in the future is watch where the Bitcoin is flowing, where the value is accruing in the system, because there's no way of debasing or manipulating the numbers of where the Bitcoin is flowing.

  19. 14:37Claim

If you're successful in a hyperbitcoinized world, there is nothing helping you along in that process that cannot be explained outside of providing value, because there's no way to trans, there's no way to transact with anyone outside of providing value. That is the tool that Bitcoin is.

  20. 14:37Claim

In fiat success, no one can be sure how large a role the state played, because there's an unknown variable, how much of the value assigned to an individual, corporation or nation is through theft and coercion. If theft and coercion is possible, that's got to be a non-zero number, so you don't know whether something is successful because of that or in spite of it, and that creates ambiguity in the market.

  21. 16:07Claim

The successful businesses will stick around not because they have access to a money printer, not because they're closer to the spigot, but because they're actually providing value in some way, finding a specialization that lets them transform more energy than they're consuming.

  22. 16:07Analogy · condensed

If you're literate you have a much higher chance you can problem solve your own issues without a middleman. If you go to the doctor and get a prescription, you have to read those things, read up on your treatment, how many pills to take. If you can decipher the code yourself you're in a stronger position, and that stronger position means access to more energy in the future.

  23. 17:37Claim

Even if you choose not to hold Bitcoin, if you understand Bitcoin you are better off, because you understand the risks, as opposed to the vast majority of the population who don't understand the economic structures in place or how they're being taken advantage of, which makes them more vulnerable.

  24. 17:37Claim · condensed

If you can remove your energy from the system, nothing those individuals do can dilute it. And if they can't dilute you, and they want to dilute whoever they can, then everybody who doesn't get diluted will be better off. The wealthier you are, the more energy you have access to, which increases the quality of your life: clean water, warm dry accommodation, food free from imperfections.

  25. 19:07Claim · condensed

Literacy increases the likelihood of ongoing skill development because you can learn about past successes and future opportunities by tracking how information is generated. In a Bitcoin world your time preference is forced further out, because you'll automatically be better off if you produce more than you consume.

  26. 19:07Idea

If I have access to less sats, I can tell for a fact that I am draining resources from the extended order more than I am providing. That should be a red flag, and I want that information as fast as possible so I can course correct, because I need a scoreboard that is pristine, that can't be tampered with.

  27. 20:38Quote

That is the sole thing on the scoreboard, that's the only thing on the scoreboard: do I have access to more sats this year or less sats?

  28. 22:08Claim

If literacy improves the economy, that is the exact same thing, that is the fix that Bitcoin solves for. Bitcoin improves the economy by improving the negotiating power of every single participant in every transaction, on both the buy side and the sell side.

  29. 23:39Claim

Each node in the network of the extended order should arm themselves with the most powerful tools to access real signal above potential noise at all costs. The further you can remove middlemen from the system, the cleaner the signal gets, and the cleaner the signal, the more accurate and valuable the information becomes.

  30. 23:39Analogy

If you can understand Bitcoin you can essentially see the matrix in a new way, like Neo unlocking his abilities, a layer deeper than what our current vision allowed for in a pre-Bitcoin environment, because the middleman could not previously be removed from the system.

  31. 23:39Reference

If you can understand Bitcoin you can essentially see the matrix in a new way, this is like Neo unlocking his abilities.

  32. 26:39Prediction

In the future, if you're listening to this any time near when this comes out, you had better get comfortable with the idea that you're going to be able to wield significantly more energy than you currently do.

  33. 26:39Claim

Probably the best answer for the majority of people is to keep exposing it to the most amount of individuals who think they have a great idea, which is to say just keep holding it in Bitcoin, because you're allowing that energy to be shared around. You are the foundational layer of the pyramid, and everything built on top of that, you'll be able to take advantage of.

  34. 26:39Reference · condensed

A few people will do the Michael Saylor thing and take their Bitcoin to the grave, making a mass contribution to the extended order as a whole.

  35. 28:10Analogy

It's almost like the monarchs, this thing that we have to take care of, and the individuals who have built up a large enough stake understand what is at stake and will be interested in educating those around them so the stewards of the Bitcoin in the future understand the gift they've been given.

  36. 28:10Claim

As more importance is laid, as the number goes up and the protocol takes over and the halvings happen year after year, and the Bitcoin is a fraction of what it is now, you can think about just how much energy you are currently holding and what you'll be able to do with it in the future.

  37. 28:10Open question

The question is how much do you want to leave for everyone else, how much of that energy do you want to make available to future generations, to your family, to your friends, to your community, and how much do you want to give up control of that.
