What If We Are Right

If the argument holds, the correct move is to keep holding Bitcoin indefinitely and never sell. It's the one asset that captures the compounding efficiency gains of the whole economy, without needing to pick or own any specific company.

The one-minute version

What it argues against

The temptation to sell early, and dismissing Bitcoin without doing the work to understand it.

You had better not sell the Bitcoin. You certainly shouldn't sell it before it's time.00:00
It's a March off the cliff.21:39
I think that's going to happen. Therefore, the Bitcoin's mine. You can't have it.37:34

Every passage, on the record.

  1. 00:00Quote

You had better not sell the Bitcoin. You certainly shouldn't sell it before it's time.

  2. 00:00Claim

How much do you need from life that you would sell your Bitcoin for, whatever that is? I mean, this is where I think you sort of have a problem.

  3. 00:30Idea

Here is now we've created a monster of just wanting to transform the energy from physical energy in the form of currency calls on others actions inside of an economy. I could take that and I could turn it into what is essentially digital energy.

  4. 01:10Idea

It certainly makes sense that you're going to want access to energy that you can move at a higher frequency and that you can allow others to move at a high frequency that has a limited supply because we want the frequency to increase because every exchange means that we as the extended order are becoming more efficient.

  5. 01:10Claim

If we're becoming more efficient, then that means that everything is better because people are doing more with less.

  6. 01:50Analogy

There's going to be some sort of leftover, right? There's going to be an amount of energy that has been transformed into a usable form more so than what was spent. This is the yin and the yang. This is the order versus disorder. It takes energy to create order.

  7. 02:21Analogy

We generate information. We as the extended order are the tip of the sphere or spear. If you want to think a bit like that, definitely a spear, not a fucking sphere. We're the tip of it.

  8. 03:27Claim

We can send information for the first time through the air, through space, all over the world in an instant information. And that hasn't been.

  9. 04:06Claim

Anything that's going to allow us to generate information in a more fluid with less friction, then that's going to be a win for every single interaction, which is a lot of interactions.

  10. 04:42Analogy

You mine it yourself, you turn whatever that energy is, the electrical energy that is coming through the wall, you turn that into Bitcoin by passing it through this ASIC miner, turn it into, as Michael Saylor says, digital energy at that stage.

  11. 04:42Reference

You turn that into, as Michael Saylor says, digital energy at that stage.

  12. 05:15Claim

Every coin has come from mining. Right. There's no other way in. So that means miners have been selling the entire time and in every one of those instances, it would have been better to hold it. Unless of course, if you hold it and the company goes under and then you're not able to generate anymore, that could also happen.

  13. 06:51Claim

So the smart thing to do there is if I do, do I think I'm going to have energy needs in the future? Yeah. Okay. I should probably buy Bitcoin then.

  14. 06:51Claim

Does anybody take Bitcoin in the real world? No. Why? Because nobody gives a fuck. Right. Because people are space cadets. They have not turned onto this.

  15. 07:26Claim

How often does a transformation, a tool come along that is so powerful that it actually generates the most amount of order ever. How many times do those come? Maybe once.

  16. 07:57Analogy

Let's just say it's just equivalent to the others. Internet, uh, telegraph, telephone, like, you know, those are major step changes. Let's just say it's another one of those.

  17. 07:57Claim

If it's a closed system with only 21 million units in the future, now, why would you be hesitant? Because you'd be a fucking space cadet and you don't know anything about any of these subjects.

  18. 09:02Quote

Well, uh, I don't want to be fucked. Like that's a huge one. Okay. Uh, I don't want to be vulnerable. Being poor is being vulnerable. Like you, you are not in control of your existence.

  19. 09:32Claim

Well, then there's motivation not to be poor. Okay. So you gotta do the work, right? You got to transform the energy in the real world.

  20. 10:41Reference

I think I've stumbled upon, uh, yin and yang, you know, just like on my own. I didn't know that some person in China, however, many years ago, they went through the exact same thought process without any of the modern technology around them. And then they said it in fucking Chinese.

  21. 12:17Prediction

I think we're still right. I think it's just going to take way longer to see monumental gains.

  22. 13:37Claim

When it does work a little bit or nobody has any argument against that makes any dent on the actual improvement to the extended order, like any close, just to how efficient the increase is by using Bitcoin.

  23. 14:46Claim

The playbook is kind of written, right? Like, uh, buy things that will hold a value over time. That seems like the win. And then don't really do anything.

  24. 15:56Idea

You got to be able to take somebody that has no idea and go like, did you think of this? Bam and hit them with a, you know, how money actually works and be able to deliver that in less than five minutes, you know, to peak the interest.

  25. 17:34Reference

I think Adam Back, he has a quote, which is very similar to the process that I went through. He tried for three months to just think of a way to make things better.

  26. 18:18Claim

The only way to access those gains or to benefit from any of those efficiency gains is I got to be closest to this picket. Right. I got to be right on top of that company. I need to be holding that stock or that ETF that has that stock in it. And all of that requires energy that is no longer necessary. I don't have to do any of it.

  27. 18:50Idea

The way to participate from an increase in efficiency by anyone inside the extended order is to just buy Bitcoin. You get it all. You get every fucking little drop and there's not dick that anybody can do about it.

  28. 18:50Analogy

It is out there. It is alive in the world. And it is a, it's an, it's a bean in another dimension that doesn't know anything about us, doesn't care about us. Doesn't, uh, doesn't think just acts based on the code that it has been fed.

  29. 18:50Claim

The way to participate from an increase in efficiency by anyone inside the extended order is to just buy Bitcoin.

  30. 19:26Quote

No amount of no system has generated more information than the Bitcoin system.

  31. 19:26Claim

It is distributed enough and decentralized enough now where there is no going back, there was no changing it.

  32. 20:30Event

We could have been getting five and a half percent. Even though inflation is probably 15, like where does this, this, how can this end?

  33. 21:07Reference

Let's take somebody like Michael Saylor. And let's say, what was it? Two years ago, he was projecting instead of 8%, 16%. So now let's say it's 16%. How are people going to live?

  34. 21:39Quote

It's a March off the cliff.

  35. 21:39Prediction

The actual blowup of Fiat, which is going to happen in and of itself, right? There's no stopping that progression. It's a March off the cliff.

  36. 22:12Open question

Like why have other countries been able to pull this off? And then you hear the counter argument to that of why other countries have been able to pull it off in the unique position that the United States is in and the unique position that the global reserve asset has in the global economy. And who knows how long I can go on for it.

  37. 22:44Reference

All the free stuff, as Jeff Booth would say, all the free stuff on your phone, all the apps.

  38. 23:21Open question

But then I guess the bigger question is who's winning. Who is benefiting from all of the creation of new information, right? The transformation, the physical embodiment of order, who benefits from all of the things that we know?

  39. 23:56Claim

There is no way that someone five years ago could have been as productive as now in the generation of information. Not possible.

  40. 24:26Prediction

You have to imagine that five years out from now, that trend continues because that trend has continued for the last 2000 years. So, I mean, that's not, you're not really going out on a limb with that prediction. It's going to get better.

  41. 24:56Claim

It's the elimination of extra steps and the elimination of a person when you don't need them. So get out of the way. We found a different way to send information back and forth to one another.

  42. 25:30Analogy

There is a field which we had not been able to see before, but it was always there. And this field can have energy sent between entities that are not in the same physical space. And no one can stop them in this. Anyone can participate in this field that was unknown before.

  43. 27:45Claim

Because there's only 21 million units of this stuff, we can store our energy inside of it. By acting as a collective in the extended order and pooling energy with one another.

  44. 33:22Claim

If you just hold a Bitcoin, that Bitcoin is going to be symbolizes that you have transformed energy and contributed that energy to the betterment of the extended order.

  45. 34:15Claim

Right now you're doing it every single second because there's only one way to get Bitcoin and the person that you gave that energy to, they needed it. Or they wouldn't have gotten rid of the Bitcoin.

  46. 34:45Quote

Get something valuable and then don't do anything for a long ass time. That's it.

  47. 35:49Prediction

I imagine if it goes up to $10 million, you know, by that point, it's fully going up forever. In 10 years, man, it's going to be a different, it's going to be, you better say thank you.

  48. 36:21Quote

What is a better, um, boost to one's self-esteem than to have made the biggest call of your life and nailed it.

  49. 36:52Claim

Like all these years, looking into this shit and telling other people about this shit and seeing if they would come up with a different solution and all of them being wrong and then you being right. Like what's the chances that works pretty goddamn small. Right. Unless we're all fucking geniuses.

  50. 37:34Quote

I think that's going to happen. Therefore, the Bitcoin's mine. You can't have it.

  51. 38:36Open question

So you better be fucking bawling. Like when do you start, when do you release the hounds on some of that energy? When do you say like, fuck it, man. Here we go. Time is not going to last forever.
